Specialist In Periodontics With Expertise in Implantology                

A senior partner at Great Neck & Mid-Island Dental Associates, Dr. Morhaim is a periodontal surgeon with a primary expertise in implant dentistry. In addition to his work at Great Neck & Mid-Island Dental, he was the Clinical Director of the Flushing Hospital Medical Center, an affiliate of New York University Hospital.

He earned his DDS from Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine where he received numerous honors including the American Association of Endodontics Award, the Academy of Dentistry for the Disabled Award, and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology Award. Dr Morhaim’s ties to his alma mater remain strong; he served as the elected chairman of the mentorship committee for the student alumni association. He also co-published a paper on endodontic therapy performed by dental students and led the student outreach program to increase dental awareness in the local community.

Upon graduation from dental school in 1990, he accepted a general practice residency position at the Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He then went on to complete his specialty training at Boston University School of Post-Doctoral Periodontics and Oral Biology where he graduated with honors and became a “Fellow” of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Presently he is a Diplomat of the same Dental Implant organization, which is the highest honor bestowed upon an active member and a feat that only 4% of its members achieve. He is also one of the first to be designated with the title of certified LANAP clinician in Nausau County, Long Island.

Dr. Morhaim is also a published author of the children’s book, “Where Are All My Toys? “. Along with Dr. Morhaim’s passion for dentistry, he is also passionate about writing and telling stories that will truly impact his readers. He has been recognized in articles about his book and personal family story in Newsday and other news sites and magazines. Dr. Morhaim has also received recognition from the President for his writing and personal story! A Brooklyn native, when not practicing dentistry or attending professional obligations, Dr. Morhaim spends most of his time outside bike riding and kayaking with his family. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Prosthodontist                                                                                                         

Dr. Robert Berg is an alumnus of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. After completing a year of general practice residency and three years of specialty training and education at the same institution, Dr. Berg received a certificate in Prosthodontics from Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. He is also an assistant clinical instructor at New York Presbyterian – Weill Cornell Medical Center and is the Prosthodontist on the Craniofacial team on which he lectures to residents and supervises their post-doctoral patient treatment. The Craniofacial Program brings together a team of experts that offer the very best of non-operative and surgical treatment for children with congenital or acquired abnormalities.

He is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists, American Dental Association, American Association for Dental Research, International Association for Dental Research, and Academy of Osseointegration. He is a fellow of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics and the Northeastern Gnathological Society and is a past president of the New York Section of the American College of Prosthodontists and President of the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Alumni Association’s New York Chapter.

Dr. Berg is a frequent contributor to the dental literature having published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and abstracts. He is a reviewer for the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants and the Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials. Dr. Berg continues to lecture and conduct research in various areas related of the specialty of Prosthodontics.

Prosthodontist                                                                                                         

Dr. Barry Kaplan is our Prosthodontist at Great Neck Dental Associates. He specializes in treating and handling all aspects of tooth replacement and related jaw structures, with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment planning. 

As a young child, Dr. Kaplan worked in his father’s dental office doing lab work. He grew fond of helping people while using his hands and being creative.For more than 30 years now, Dr. Kaplan has been recognized and respected for his expertise and compassionate care. His dual training in prosthodontics and the surgical placement of implants offers patients comprehensive treatment plans in one location. He also provides crowns, bridges, dentures, cosmetic procedures, and implant reconstructions. He uses 3-D planning software and dental CAT scans to perform implant surgery and then completes the final implant reconstructions by designing the teeth. Dr. Kaplan often uses cutting edge grafting procedures to rebuild bone where necessary to enhance the functional and aesthetic outcomes. 

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Kaplan is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics and a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is currently an associate professor at Morristown Medical Center and an associate professor at Advanced Implant Educators (AIE). Dr. Kaplan was recently voted a Top Dentist by NJ Monthly Magazine.
Dr. Kaplan currently resides in New Jersey. When he’s not transforming his patients’ smiles, he loves competing in triathlons in spring and summer and skiing in the winter.
